Awards for Young Scientists

1. Jyotsnamoyee Raghunath Bhattacharya Prize

The prize is given for the published research paper and includes INR 5,000/- (Rupees Five thousand only), medal and certificate.

Eligibility: The paper should be in the field of basic/ clinical neurosciences including the following disciplines-

Neuroanatomy, Neurophysiology, Neurochemistry, Neuropharmacology,

Neuroimmunology and Neurotoxicology. Paper published during the year of the conference or last one year of the conference will be considered. The work should have been done in India. In case of multi-authored publication, the applicant should be the first author and essentially be a member in good standing of Indian Academy of Neurosciences. 

Procedure: Work on which award has been received earlier either from the Academy or elsewhere should not be submitted for consideration.

Requisite copies (generally three) of the reprint / paper clearly marked as Paper for Jyotsnamoyee Raghunath Bhattacharya Prize should be sent to the General Secretary / Secretary (HQ) of the Academy before the last date for peer reviewing at the following address:

2. Tulsabai Somani Educational Trust Award:

The award is given for the best paper presented in the oral session at the annual conference of Indian Academy of Neurosciences. The award includes INR 1,500/- (Rupees One thousand five hundred only), memento and certificate.

Eligibility: The candidate / nominee should essentially be a member of Indian Academy of Neurosciences and below 40 years of age at the time of conference.

Procedure: The abstract clearly marked as Paper for Tulsabai Somani Educational Trust Award should be submitted in the respective award category during abstract submission, before the last date of submission.

A copy of the abstract should also be sent to the General Secretary / Secretary (HQ) to the following address:

3. D M Kar Prize:

The prize is given for the best paper presented in the oral session at the annual conference of Indian Academy of Neurosciences. The prize includes memento and certificate.

Eligibility: The candidate / nominee should essentially be a member of Indian Academy of Neurosciences and below 35 years of age at the time of conference.

Procedure: The abstract clearly marked as Paper for D M Kar Prize should be submitted in the respective award category during abstract submission, before the last date of submission.

4. Dr. S. S. Parmar Research Foundation (USA) Award

There are two awards under this category, which are given for the best papers presented in the Poster session. Each award includes INR 2,500/- (Rupees Two thousand five hundred only), memento and certificate.

Eligibility: The candidate / nominee should essentially be a member of Indian Academy of Neurosciences and below 35 years of age at the time of conference.

Procedure: The abstract clearly marked as Paper for Professor SS Parmar Research Foundation Award should be submitted in the respective award category during abstract submission, before the last date of submission.

5. Suttee Nag Prize:

There are two prizes under this category, which are given for the best papers presented in the Poster session. Each prize includes INR 2,500/- (Rupees Two thousand five hundred only), memento and certificate.

Eligibility: The applicant / nominee should essentially be a member of Indian Academy of Neurosciences and below 35 years of age at the time of conference. He / she should present a paper at the annual conference of IAN essentially.

Procedure: The abstract clearly marked as Paper for Suttee Nag Prize should be submitted in the respective award category during abstract submission, before the last date of submission.

6. Travel awards / fellowships:

Ravindra and Lalita Nath Travel Fellowships

The Academy provides Ravindra and Lalita Nath Travel Fellowships (earlier R Nath Travel Fellowship) to the candidates seeking support for participation in the annual conference of Indian Academy of Neurosciences. Up to four travel fellowships consisting of actual travel reimbursement by AC-3 tier or maximum of INR 5,000/- (Rupees Five thousand only) will be available depending on the availability of funds every year. The fellowships will be provided on competitive basis and selection will be made by the Organizing Secretary by constituting a committee in consultation with Treasurer and Secretary (HQ).

Eligibility: The applicant / nominee should essentially be a member of Indian Academy of Neurosciences and below 35 years of age at the time of conference. He / she should present a paper at the annual conference of IAN essentially.

Procedure: Interested persons should send an application duly forwarded by their mentors along with required copies of the abstract of the paper. They should also send a statement of about 250 words explaining how his/her participation will help in further research, a letter of support from the Guide / Supervisor and travel cost (fare from IRCTC site may be downloaded).

The above papers should be mailed to ianaiims2019@gmail.com before the last date of submission.

A set of papers should also be sent to the Treasurer (Dr. A K Agrawal) on or before the last date at the following address:

John Miller Travel Award:
